My name is Khamla Lao. I am 22 years old now. I am studying in Souphanouvong University, majoring in Mass Communication. I am from Saiyaboury province, 3 hours away by motorbike. When I finished Lower Secondary School I received a talented student scholarship to continue High School in Luang Prabang.
I found @ My Library when I studied in high school.

In my free time, I like to go out and take photos because I think that taking pictures can capture the atmosphere at that time, and no matter how much time passes, when I look back at them, I will remember the feelings. I also spend my free time creating art.

I always like to learn new things and like to share experiences especially in photography and filmmaking. In the past I have tried to attend many trainings and exchanges to develop my photography and videography skills. While in High School my team won best High School photography team in Laos and we traveled to Japan for a 10-day workshop with other teams from around the world, so now I work part time @ My Library, and I’m teaching beginner photography. I also won a grant from the Luang Prabang Film Festival to develop my documentary on Khai Phan, or Lao river weed, a delicious part of Lao cuisine. I recently traveled to Thailand as a part of my university team for a 1-week film camp on making short films.
I like to meet other photographers and filmmakers who visit Luang Prabang.
